why I built it
In the summer of 2025 I was ghostwriting a memoir for a paying client — something I’d been doing for several years. And in the middle of it I had a thought that genuinely stopped me.
How is it fair that only people who can afford to pay someone like me can leave a lasting written legacy for their family?
I lost both my parents at the start of 2020. And it was only afterwards that I realised how little I actually knew about them — not as my parents, but as people. What they were afraid of. What made them laugh. What the world looked like from where they were standing.
Those stories are gone. I can’t get them back.
The Memoir Maker exists so that doesn’t keep happening. So that everyone — not just people who can afford a ghostwriter — can leave something lasting behind.
I built it myself. At 61. Using a free one-day vibe coding course at Cromford Mills. Because the idea mattered too much to shelve.
