From Memoir Maker to Moisturiser — It’s Been an Interesting Week
As it states on the home page of this website — “Some people do one thing. I’ve never been that person.” — and oh, how true is that? 🤣
Today I finally hit publish on thememoirmaker.com — the web app I created so everyday people can leave a little bit of their memories behind for those that come after. It’s a project that has consumed me for almost 18 months. From initial idea, through several iterations — including a journal you can buy online — to completed, working app.
Along the way I’ve learned how to format a book, and that it’s absolutely fine to decide something isn’t working and start over another way. I’ve also learned how to vibe code, resurrected my HTML knowledge, and become my own AI expert (note to you readers — despite the “em dashes” I do all the writing on this website myself… em dashes were around before AI, where do you think it learned to use them?!).
The downside of this passion project? I’ve been so obsessed with all this exciting techy stuff that I’ve neglected the other sides of my multi-income life. That has to change. I have to keep on top of ALL the strands, not just the one that’s most interesting at any given moment. 😉
That means getting the travel business back up and running — and taking a proper look at the Curated side of things, whether that’s making it work harder or replacing it with something new.
The “something new” part I actually addressed today, and it came from the most unexpected place. A casual comment on a Facebook post about a new Tropic product (Calm and Correct) caught my eye. I used to love a colour self-correcting facial cream by Altruist, but it seemed to disappear — this Tropic one looked like it might fill that gap, so I ordered it through a local Ambassador. When she delivered it, she dropped off a range of testers along with my actual purchase.
If you know anything about me from this website, it’s that I am innately curious and willing to try new things — and in this instance I am SO glad I followed that instinct. I used the products — a cleanser, toner, serum, and moisturiser — for a week, and the change in my skin was incredible. I went from slightly crozzled and blotchy to hydrated, smooth, and blemish free.
ASTOUNDING.
I didn’t want to hand the testers back when she came to collect them. 😭 That was when Rachel mentioned that ALL the things I’d been testing — and much more — were included in the “Ambassador Kit.” Let’s just say it didn’t take a lot of thinking about.
So, Tropic Ambassador has been added to my list of income streams — and Tropic will be joining the Curated section of the site. Actually, now I think about it, that section is getting a rebrand too. “Laura Loves” feels far more like me. Watch this space!
